Covid-19 Home Learning Arrangements

During the current school closure there is an expectation that all pupils/returning pupils are engaged in online learning.  On-line resources such as Google Classroom, Sumdog and BBC Bitesize will provide access to resources and revision materials to supplement their learning at home.  Below is a summary of available online resources for specific subject areas and year groups; this now has some specific instructions for pupils who are about to progress to S3, S5 and S6 and will be updated as more information becomes available.

New courses for new S3, S5 and S6 officially commence on 8th June when our new timetable commences. Preparation materials and instructions are increasingly being made available on Google Classrooms for these new courses;  check the whole school Google Classroom for joining codes for these new classes (See below).  If you have a specific query about your option choices, please contact Mrs Craig: gw07craigallison@glow.sch.uk

Accessing Resources

An email has been sent to all pupils (gw….@glow.sch.uk), detailing how to access Google Classroom joining codes.  Pupils can access their email by logging into Glow.

Note: Pupils must use their gw********@sl.glow.scot account if they are attempting to access Google Classroom through the Google Classroom app.  Step-by-step guide intructions to help with the intial setup of the mobile app can be accessed here.

General Resources

Whole School Google Classroom
  • Joining codes for various subjects and classes will be available within this classroom and will be updated as more GCs are created.
  • A joining code for this Google Classroom (GC) has been shared via an email to all pupils, sent Friday 20th March.  This can be re-requested by emailing gw18trinityictc@glow.sch.uk
  • Pupils are requested to join this GC using the joining code and to check this regularly for new GCs being added.
  • If your son/daughter has forgotten their Glow/Google Classroom password, parents can email gw18trinityictc@glow.sch.uk to request this.  Note: you will be asked to provide some datacheck information via email to comply with GDPR (do not send personal information through Twitter or other social media platforms).

  • SQA Past Papers
  • Scholar Online Revision – From 31/03/20, any student, teacher or lecturer registered with SCHOLAR can access any of our SCHOLAR online content offering 37 complete SQA NQ courses, with support materials available for a further four qualifications.  Once logged into Scholar, switch the ‘Display other courses’ button to see all the other courses.  If you require your Scholar login please email gw18trinityictc@glow.sch.uk stating your full name and registration class.  S3 pupils can also request a guest user account to access N5 courses that they will be studying in S4.  If this is required, please email gw18trinityictc@glow.sch.uk stating your full name and registration group.

Scholar Online Tutor Sessions

These sessions are particularly useful for pupils who are about to progress to S4, S5 and S6. Currently, the live schedule is tailored towards introducing courses to pupils.  Previously recorded sessions can also be accessed which focus on specific content.

  • Tech We Can online homeschooling lesson plans – there are 12 free lesson plans, all designed to encourage young people to consider a career in technology. Primarily targeted at 10 – 13 year olds, they are all mapped to the National Curriculum and each lesson is two hours long. You can register at https://techwecan.org/at-home/ to access the lesson plans.
  • Tech We Can Tuesdays – every Tuesday at 10.30am, you can register at https://techwecan.org/tech-tuesdays/ on behalf of your child to participate in a free, interactive 30min tech lesson hosted by The Tech She Can Charter. Each week will have a different theme, the next one is ‘Tech for the Environment’ – educating children about how the world of work is evolving and inspiring them to consider a career in technology through various activities and videos.

New S3, S5 and S6 Subject Specific Resources

This section is specifically for pupils who are returning for S5 or S6 next session.  Please see below for the advice on the learning that you should be undertaking in preparation for the the subjects that you have chosen for next session.  This will be updated as more information becomes available.  Pupils are encouraged to follow @SL_TrinityHS and subject specific accounts on Twitter.  These accounts regularly tweet subject specific updates and information.  If pupils have a Scholar account this now has access to all subjects and all levels.

Spanish
  • Higher Spanish – New Google Classroom has been created and joining code shared via the Whole School Google Classroom (see General Resources above).
Maths
  • Google Classrooms has a range of N5, H, AH Materials.
Science
(Bio, Chem, Phys)
  • Pupils who are looking to progress to National 5 or Higher next term, please check your usual Google Classroom to find instructions on codes for classrooms for these new courses. Contact your teacher if you need help with this.

Keeping Track of Assignments

The ‘To do’ view in Google Classroom lists all of your assignments and their status.  You can view the assignments that you still have to do (don’t forget to ‘Hand in’) and the assignments that you have completed.  The list can be filtered by Classroom to help you find an assignment for a specific subject.

Your teachers may have provided some feedback on your completed assignments.  To check this, click on the assignment and check for any ‘Private Comments’.  You should also check for teacher comments in any attach documents.
