Foundation Apprenticeships Boosts Youth Employability
Education Scotland is supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week by raising awareness of the benefits that Foundation Apprenticeships offer pupils.
They have developed a quick guide for you to learn more about what Foundation Apprenticeships are, the benefits they offer pupils and how schools in Scotland are delivering them.
Foundation Apprenticeships are open to pupils in the senior phase of secondary school and support a range of career pathways including Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships, work, college or university.
Across Scotland, they are being delivered in many schools in a number of ways, with pupils gaining industry relevant knowledge and improving the core skills currently being sought by employers.
Gayle Gorman, HM Chief Inspector of Education said: ‘Education Scotland supports a diverse curriculum with work-based learning opportunities as this provides our young people with the skills and experience they need to progress into successful employment.
‘Foundation Apprenticeships are a great way to support young people progress into employment, one of the overarching ambitions of the Developing the Young Workforce agenda.’
