FutureScot.com is the go-to site for digital technologies leaders in Scotland. FutureScot hosts conferences and reports on the digital technologies industry in Scotland both online and via its quarterly magazine. FutureScot features interviews with digital leaders and disrupters, policymakers and grassroots groups.
You will form an integral part of the team and operate as the main go-to for all IT technical support matters as well as assisting in marketing and PR related activity to ensure the FutureScot brand and events remain current and as the main source for all things digital. We also produce the Times and Sunday Times Scotland newspaper supplements and magazines on behalf of News International.
You will be responsible for all backend support for Office 365, our CRM HubSpot and be required to run/manage the websites via WordPress. You will also ensure all live conference events run smoothly and ensure we get the most from our social media activities and design tools such as Adobe and Canva.
We are looking for a candidate who has a desire to work in the fast-moving media and events sector in critical business support and IT role. You will undertake a Graduate Apprenticeship in Business Management: IT with Heriot-Watt University whilst also working hard and gaining valuable experience working with Canongate & Future Scot.
What will I learn?
FutureScot values career-driven individuals who have a passion and eagerness to learn and succeed in their career. You will sometimes be expected to act on your initiative so you must have some base experience of working on back-office IT systems such as Office 365, HubSpot and WordPress, however, we will support the apprentice in any additional learning. We place a great deal of importance on the commitment to the apprentice programme and learning objectives.
Media and conference platforms have changed out of all recognition in the last 6 months and we offer a great opportunity to become part of a new live events industry, but with established brands and working with experienced staff.
You will study towards achieving a MA (Hons) in Business Management: IT 1 day per week at Heriot-Watt University whilst being a key member of the FutureScot team. Attendance at University classes is mandatory and must be treated in the same way as any other working day.
What qualification or qualities are required?
You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement
For direct year 1 entry Highers AAAB (over two sittings).
HNC with B in a graded unit.
Intermediate 2 / National 5 / GCSE English and Mathematics.
Modern Apprenticeship in relevant discipline will be considered.
Candidates with relevant and demonstrable work experience will also be considered.
