Apprenticeship Awareness Week

SLCollege

With option choices fast approaching you may be considering a Foundation Apprenticeship (FA), or perhaps you’re still a little unsure as to what a FA is.

A Foundation Apprenticeship is a fantastic way for pupils to learn the skills required for their chosen field/industry by undertaking periods of work experience and college based learning. Pupils would be working towards an industry recognised FA qualification which can lead directly into a Modern Apprenticeship, when you can start to earn a wage whilst continuing to learn the trade, or it can be used as part entry to a university degree course. Either way it is an extremely valuable qualification to have.

But how does it work? A FA is selected as one of your option choices alongside English, History or Business Management, but it would require you to attend college on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon as part of your normal weekly timetable. All other times and days outwith college time will be spent working on your other option choices in school.

As part of Apprenticeship Awareness Week, South Lanarkshire College are offering our pupils the opportunity to attend taster sessions held on the college campus. This is an opportunity for pupils to find out more information on the Foundation Apprenticeship courses they have available and to ask questions and/or pick up some valuable advice and tips. To assist pupils, the school will be offering transport to and from these taster sessions for anyone who wishes to find out more about them.

So what’s on offer at these taster sessions? There are 2 courses to find out about:
