New College Lanarkshire are offering a new course designed to encourage females into the Construction industry.
Below you will find details on the “Females into Construction” programme, which will start at the Motherwell Campus, on the 30th April.

|Course Main Info (Course introduction text for top banner||The qualification that prospective students will gain throughout this course will be the National 5 in Construction Crafts. While this is a practical, trade based qualification we are hoping to engage and enthuse students not only in trade subjects but also showcase the professional careers that are available in the industry which may otherwise be unknown.
This course is specifically targeted towards females to further help close the gender gap in other areas and meet the ever growing demand for females in the wider construction sector.
This course is not only for females who might like to access the construction industry through the traditional trade routes but also for those who would like to learn more about and access the professional careers that exist.
It aims to show just how popular these careers can be with females and highlight some of the incredible successes that females continue to have in the sector.
ANY STUDENT WHO HAS EXAMS DURING THIS COURSE WILL BE RELEASED FOR THEM.
|Moving on (Step 3 – Progression)||Construction (City & Guilds) Pre Apprenticeship (For students who display willingness and aptitude for a Trade related career).
Electrical Installation Pre Apprenticeship (For students who display willingness and aptitude for a Trade related career).
Electronic Fire and Securities Pre Apprenticeship (For students who display willingness and aptitude for a Trade related career).
Progression onto the professional careers route of Built Environment at National or Higher National Certificate level H/NC Built Environment. (For students who display an aptitude for a Professional career).
Progression onto the professional careers route of Computer aided Architectural Design and Technology at National or Higher National Certificate level (For students who display an aptitude for a Professional career).
|Job options (Employment progression opportunities)||This course is designed with and supported by many companies throughout Lanarkshire including four National Tier One Contractors who sit on the Lanarkshire framework.
Due to this support there is a likelihood of work placements for students who excel above and beyond their peers, possibly leading to direct employment.
|What you need (Step 1 Entry)||There are no formal entry requirements for this course but students who have National 5 qualifications will have an advantage in progressing into the professional career routes.|
|What you’ll learn (Step 2 Progress)||The formal Qualification to be gained – National 5 Construction which includes,
Painting and Decorating,
Carpentry and Joinery
By its very design and employer participation the course will also include,
Visits to live construction sites,
Ambassador talks and activities hosted by partner companies,
Visits to design offices at Regional Headquarters,
CSCS and Specific Safety training,
