We offer a range of apprenticeships within Housing and Technical Resources, but overall we are looking for people who can demonstrate commitment to their own learning and enthusiasm for building a career within our Property Services Team in the following discipline:

Trainee Architectural Officer

Property Services is one of three services within Housing and Technical Resources, and is responsible for a wide range of services, including the following:

  • A property advice service
  • A maintenance service
  • A design service
  • An improvement service

As a Modern Apprentice you will be involved in providing an architectural service in all stages of  construction projects. This will include building surveying, computer aided design and draughting in  2D and 3D, technical specification,  attending and recording design team, and site progress meetings. You will also carry out site visits to inspect construction work.

What do we look for?

These opportunities are for trainees and therefore do not require you to have any experience in your chosen profession. What we do require is:

  • Minimum of 3 Standard Grades at Level 3 (or above), Intermediate 2, or National 4 (or above) in the following:- Mathematics, Physics or Technological Studies, and Craft and Design or Graphic Communication
  • or
  • An NC in Built Environment or equivalent qualification
  • An understanding of your chosen profession
  • An understanding of the importance of Health and Safety
  • An understanding of the benefits of effective teamwork and customer care principles
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the working and college environment

This vacancy is restricted to applicants who have recently attended a South Lanarkshire Council School and/or live in the South Lanarkshire Area. You must be 16 years of age by 28/09/18 and must be no older than 24 years of age by 10/08/18.  Or if you are disabled or care experienced, and aged between 20 to 29 years of age by 10/08/2018, you may be eligible to apply if you meet the rest of the criteria as South Lanarkshire Council and Skills Development Scotland recognise that disabled people and those who are care experienced can face challenges on their career journey.

2. Modern Apprentice Civil Engineer and Structural Engineer

3. Modern Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Property Services is one of three services within Housing and Technical Resources, and is responsible for a wide range of services, including the following:

As a Modern Apprentice you will be involved in providing a full Quantity Surveying service, for South Lanarkshire Council, on all allocated projects.  As you will be learning on the job, as well as college, you will be able to provide advice on contract practice and procedures as well as the procurement process involved for financial regulations, Quantity Surveying guidelines and the Council’s standing orders.

What do we look for?

These opportunities are for trainees and therefore do not require you to have any experience in your chosen profession. What we do require is:
