SKILLS SCOTLAND GLASGOW WILL BE A JAM-PACKED EVENT FULL OF INTERACTIVE, INSPIRING AND INFORMATIVE ACTIVITIES.

THE EVENT WILL FEATURE HANDS-ON DEMONSTRATIONS WITH INDUSTRY EXPERTS AT THE READY TO OFFER FREE INSIGHT AND IMPARTIAL ADVICE.

ATTENDEES ARE ENCOURAGED TO VISIT AS MANY STANDS AS POSSIBLE AND TALK TO THE DIFFERENT ORGANISATIONS EXHIBITING.

GET SKILLED STANDS

Get Skilled stands offer in-depth knowledge about certain industries. You can discover new talents and try a variety of different skills when you get hands-on with a Get Skilled activity.

Experts are always on hand to help as you learn something new and try work-based skills; the aim is to ensure each Get Skilled stand represents a different career sector so to promote as wide a range as possible to you, the visitors.

APPRENTICESHIP THEATRE

The Apprenticeship Theatre offers a full programme of exhibitor led seminars promoting apprenticeship options for students. Sessions will have a limited number of spaces and booked groups will be given priority to attend.

10:00 – 10:20 New College Lanarkshire The Power of Observation FA Scientific Technology (Hazard Perception) – Spot the difference. Put the powers of observation to the test as you compare two nearly identical scientific experiments and try to spot the differences – A great way to get your brain warmed up! Successfully spot a difference and you will go into a draw for the chance to win a £50 amazon voucher.

11:30 – 11:50 BAE Systems Apply Your Talent Where it Counts Type 26 Programme Director Nadia Savage will provide an overview of BAE Systems Naval ships as a business, talk about her career journey and give an overview on our exciting projects and apprenticeship roles we have to offer starting in August 2020. A BAE systems current apprentice will also talk about their experience on the programme so far!
12:15 – 12:35 Scottish Government Modern Apprenticeships and The Scottish Government
The Devolved Government for Scotland has a range of responsibilities including: health, education, justice, rural affairs, housing & environment. Business Administration job roles vary, but can include booking meetings, organising travel, using electronic filing & finance systems, dealing with stakeholders, managing diaries, ordering stationery, answering phones and responding to emails.

13:35 – 13:55 Robert Gordon University Graduate Apprenticeships This session will highlight the benefits of undertaking a graduate apprenticeship by discussing real-life testimonials of current students. Come along to find out what a graduate apprenticeship is, why it might be the best option for you and how you can get involved.

17:15 – 17:35 PwC Your Business and Technology opportunities after school with PwC

Trinity High School will be attending  on Wednesday, 06 November, from 1100-1430.

The event consists of an initial 1hr interactive session from 11am. Skills Scotland have teamed up with an exciting array of talent to put on a mental health session with a difference! During the one hour show pupils will be entertained by a variety of acts and speakers including TedX speaker Jamala Osman and will experience an interactive session from the amazing Professor Til Wykes from Kings College.

Following this session, pupils will be able to wander around the exhibits and stalls and meet face to face with employers, training providers, colleges, universities and professional bodies to find out what’s on offer.

Confirmed exhibitors include: Scottish Government (Careers); NHS Careers; Royal Navy and Royal Marines; Stewart Milne Group; CITB Construction; BAE Systems; Diageo; University of Strathclyde; City of Glasgow College and Glasgow Kelvin College amongst many more.
