Traditionally at this time of year, our school would be bustling with pupils, parents, and many of our learning community partners. We would be looking forward to inviting our new S1 pupils into the school for their half-day visits as part of their transition to high school and our S2, S4, and S5 pupils would be gearing up toward subject choices and participating in our Careers Convention. Unfortunately due to current restrictions, it will not be possible to host these events in the school. Like many of the challenges that we have faced during the pandemic restrictions, we adapt. Look out for the launch of our online, virtual experiences next week.
P7 Transition – Virtual Visits
Your P7 teacher will have provided you with information on how we are going to do this online. During the ‘live’ morning session, you will meet some of the teachers from Trinity High School that you may have in S1 and you will be able to sample Literacy, Numeracy and Health & Wellbeing classwork. We are very excited about this part of your transition journey and we look forward to seeing you all.
S2, S4 and S5 Option Programme
We have created a dedicated online platform for all parents of S2, S4 and S5 pupils which can be accessed via our school website. Furthermore, a specialist Google Classroom for all S2, S4 and S5 pupils has been created which will provide a wealth of support and guidance to those pupils making their option choices for session 2021/22.
Stage 1 – Options Programme Launch On 1st March 2021, we will officially launch our dedicated Options Webpage and Google Classroom for all parents and pupils.
Stage 2 – Option Booklet (Week beginning 1st March 2021) This will be made available online via the Options Webpage and Options Google Classroom. It will include a sample Options form for session 2021/22. The booklet gives an insight into all of the subjects on offer.
Stage 3 – Careers Awareness (Online provision from 1st March 2021) A google classroom has been created for all S2, S4 and S5 pupils. This online classroom has a wealth of resources that pupils can use to support their choices as well as find out about career pathways. There will be videos created by subjects to give information about what each subject contains. Furthermore, resources from Skills Development Scotland and My World of Work will be available. Pupils will be able to contact their Pupil Support Teacher via this classroom or directly via their glow email.
Stage 4 – Careers Convention Week (Online provision from 7th March 2021) Using the Google Classroom we will host a Career Convention Week. There will be a wealth of information regarding different career pathways and specialist industries. Resources linked to specialist chosen fields can also be accessed e.g. careers, university applications, medicine, construction, etc. This will support pupils in making informed choices when selecting their option choices for session 2021/22.
Stage 5 – Parental Options Presentation (available online from 1st March 2021) Every year we would normally host an information evening event in Trinity High School for all parents and pupils in S2, S4 and S5. This involves a talk from the Depute Head Teacher regarding the options programme. This year we will continue with this however, the presentation from the Depute Head Teacher will be a pre-recorded PowerPoint with voice over and it will be made available online via the Options Webpage. This will enable parents to access the presentation at a time that suits and as many times as they wish. In addition to this, we know this evening is usually an opportunity for parents to ask questions therefore we have also created a FAQs section on the Options Webpage to help parents find the answers to some of our most commonly asked questions regarding options.
Stage 6 – Completion of Final Option Form. Options forms will be launched and available online from 15th March. The options form this year will be an online google form. The link for this will be available to pupils via their Options Google Classroom. Once pupils have accessed the resources on the Google Classroom and as parents, you have had an opportunity to explore the Options Webpage and have discussions with your child; they can consider completing the Options Google Form. Each pupil should only complete one option form online so must ensure they have made final decisions before submitting. The options form must be completed on or before FRIDAY 26th MARCH 2021.
