The Engineering arm Aqualife Services Ltd is excited to offer the position of Trainee Data Scientist to a candidate who has a passion for coding, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to simultaneously get into the world of work for an innovative, exciting company, earn salary, and gain a fully funded BSc degree in Data Science.

What qualification or qualities are required?

You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement

Any of the following will be considered for entry to the programme:

BBB at SQA Higher or equivalent qualifications (to include Computing Science or Mathematics)
Relevant Foundation Apprenticeship and 2 Highers (to include Computing Science or Mathematics)
Relevant Modern Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 6)
Applicants with non-standard qualifications including SVQs/NVQs and access programmes will be considered on an individual basis.

Applicants with work experience and/or professional qualifications can be considered through Recognition of Prior Learning. This is the process for recognising learning that has its source in experience and/or previous formal, non-formal and learning contexts.

Mathematics competency
Where there is no evidence of competency in mathematics either in a formal or informal context, candidates will be required to undertake a short test. This can be administered by the University or the Graduate Apprentice employer.

Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (Modern Apprenticeship)


What are we looking for?

We are recruiting 9 individuals to join a two year training programme.  You will be responsible for supporting the coordination and delivery of a range of prescribing support services under the direction of the Prescribing Support Pharmacist.

Whilst you will be mainly based in our hospitals (the acute sector) this post is rotational, offering experience in the dispensing and supply of medicines and products directly towards, departments and patients.

The successful completion the Training programme will result in you achieving a National Certificate (NC) in Pharmacy Services SCQF Level 6 and a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Pharmacy Services Level 3 (SCQF Level 7)  and the achievement of any Core Skills that you have not achieved through previous learning.

Attainment of both of these national qualifications along with the workplace experiential learning that you will receive will ensure that you are then eligible to apply to the pharmacy professions regulatory body – General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) to practice as a pharmacy technician (Reg. Pharm. Tec)

What qualifications do I need to apply?

At the time of submitting your application you must already hold a minimum of a National 5 Qualifications (or SCQF equivalent) in Chemistry at grade A to C and a three National Four (or SCQF equivalent) qualifications  in Biology, Maths and English.

These vacancies are aligned to the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Modern Apprenticeship Programme and therefore only open to those applicants aged 16 to 24 years (or 16 to 29 years for Disabled Applicants or applicants who are care experienced*), in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Widening Access to Employment Strategy and workforce projections.

ICE Scotland’s Home Engineering Challenge

A Queensferry Crossing from straws? The Falkirk Wheel from K’nex? Young people across Scotland are being challenged to show-off their engineering creativity using household objects.

The Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) want to challenge all school pupils across Scotland to demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving skills by building an iconic civil engineering project just from household materials.

Could you create a Queensferry Crossing from straws? A Burj Khalifa from Lego? A Channel Tunnel from toilet rolls? The Falkirk Wheel from K’nex? Or even the Hoover Dam from papier maché? The possibilities are endless!

Looking for inspiration? Look at some civil engineering projects of the last 200 years for ideas then see what you have around the house and get building!

This challenge is open to Scottish school pupils of all ages, from early years to S6.

It’s an ideal opportunity to explore the creativity, ingenuity and problem-solving skills that civil engineers use every day. Whether it’s for a UCAS personal statement or a primary school portfolio, this is a fun way to show you’ve got what it takes to be an engineer.

The civil engineering project should be identified in the text as should the age of the pupil who built it.

NHS NextGen Careers support pupils considering a future in a medical discipline every year and lockdown will not stop them doing this. If you have applied for Medicine this year NextGen would like to support you through to the UCAT test by offering some online sessions designed to fully prepare you for the assessment.

Youth Worker and Key Worker Opportunities with FARE Scotland

Position: Youth worker (school based)

Reporting to: Employability Manager

Contractual status: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £23,000 – £24,000 per annum

Job Description

Working alongside the Wider FARE team and school, the youth worker will help maximise the potential of local facilities to meet the needs of school pupils and local people of all ages. S/he will develop and participate in the delivery of a range of joint and needs identified activities. The post holder will have a sound knowledge of the issues faced by children, young people, adults and families. While also having experience in developing interventions to tackle poverty, its symptoms and close the attainment gap through educational and social activities including volunteering and mentoring opportunities.

S/he will have experience of planning and delivering needs led programmes by working alongside the school, local people and other organisations in a strategic working group to meet the needs of the pupils and their families within the schools catchment area. The post holder should have good oral and written communication skills and s/he must have the ability to communicate with people at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

· Ensure the collection and collation of statistics as required to ensure continued funding and for progress reports to the schools SLT (Senior Leadership Team) FAREs board of directors and various funding bodies.

· Work closely with the Employability Manager and school staff to develop, promote and organise a variety of youth services.

· Raise attendance issues with parents; meet with both students and parents in order to support them to improve attendance and/or attainment.

· Attend meetings with the schools Senior Leadership Team and other agencies that can support students that are a concern in order to successfully improve their attendance and/or qualifications.

· On-going monitoring of attendance of pupils identified as non-attenders and\or those at risk of falling out of the academic structure.

· To establish activities which will promote the personal, social, educational and material welfare of young people and their families.

· Ensure the collection and collation of statistics as required to evaluate the projects impact and for progress reports.

· Assist with the planning and delivery of F.A.R.E’s attainment programme for at risk young people.

· Establish and maintain contact with relevant outside agencies.

· Maintain all records in accordance with guidelines from FARE and the school.

· Comply with all relevant legislation and F.A.R.E/school policies.

· Promote the objectives of F.A.R.E as stated in its constitution.

· Write reports, as requested.

· Participate in fund raising activities and the development of funding applications.

· Attend training opportunities.

· Attend meetings, as requested.

· Undertake any other duties as specified by the SM

Position: Employability Keyworker (School)

Reporting to: Employability Manager

Contractual status: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £23,000 – £24,000 per annum

Job Description:

FAREs Employability Programme is to provide accredited training and support to members of the local and wider community to access further education, training and/or employment. The post holder will work closely with the Employability Manager to ensure high quality programmes are delivered to achieve their aims for the candidates. The Employability Keyworker will be responsible for the programme training, delivery, evaluation and forming relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design all referral/induction and training materials, provide an induction to all new trainees using prescribed documentation and procedures.

· Undertake 1-1 goal setting interviews and reviews.

· Deliver training in-group settings using a range of learning materials accommodating a range of learning styles.

· Maintain up to date knowledge of the employment sector for young people/adults and pre- employment training provision that may be needed.

· Ensure Employability Programme trainees get the support that they require to help them remain engaged, focused and progress to their identified goals.

· Build trusting relationships with FARE and Employability Programme trainees, challenge negative attitudes and behaviors whilst motivating individuals to retain focus.

· Support participants’ FE and job search activities, personal

development, goal setting, identifying and overcoming barriers, CV development, completing applications, interview skills, and accredited qualifications.

· Liaise with employers to identify job opportunities, further training and/or education within the stages of the Employability Pipeline in order to meet recruitment targets and outcomes.

· Provide post-employment support to achieve sustained employment outcomes,Including tracking, and record keeping through database.

· Attend meetings to represent FARE promoting the Employability Programme at external events if required. Monitor and evaluate all employability training programmes.

· Adapt to changing needs and requirements as the position and organisation grows and develops.

· Have successfully completed a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable groups) application.

· Any other duties appointed by the Senior Management Team
